Despite a history that goes back over 150 years, at Burberry, the biggest headlines happened in the last decade. When young Brit, Christopher Bailey, took the reigns as Burberry's design director in 2001, he could never have imagined the impact he would soon have on the revered English label. Bailey has since climbed the Burberry creative ladder to the joint position of Chief Executive and Chief Creative Officer. Bailey's design and leadership talents, paired with his enthusiastic embrace of social media, have propelled the storied Burberry label into a 21st Century power-brand, and have cemented Bailey in the fashion history books.
