Abstract:

Abstract: Families reunifying within the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services face many obstacles throughout the reunification process. When families are separated due to child abuse allegations, visitations and family support are key factors in successful case outcomes. Within Los Angeles County, there are few visitation centers and even fewer programs designed to meet the specific needs of families reunifying. The purpose of this project was to locate a funding source and design a visitation program for families reunifying residing in the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services - Compton East service area. An extensive literature review was conducted to understand how best to meet the needs of families reunifying. The goal of the purposed project is to provide families with an enhanced visitation experience that combines a safe and comfortable atmosphere, family support, and structured family activities. The selected funding source was The Stuart Foundation.
