Abstract:

"On January 20, 1942, one of the most horrific conferences in history took place. The subject was the organization and co-ordination of the "final solution": the destruction of all eleven million European Jews. Fifteen highly-placed Nazis discussed the best strategy for genocide over a glass of expensive cognac. This documentary examines extensively the historical background to the conference, dealing with the preceding events methodically and largely chronologically -- from Hitler's assumption of power in 1933 through the developments that led to the Wannsee Conference and the destruction of more than six million Jews. In this documentary eminent Jewish and non-Jewish historians exchange views on the issues that have occupied many people for years: the why's and wherefores, the question of blame and the possibility of a recurrence."--Container.
