Abstract:

Abstract: The author chose a narrative project in order to portray her experiences as a biracial and interfaith individual. The author hopes that her personal experiences will help the readers understand both the challenges and benefits of coming from such a background. The author also hopes that many readers will relate to her experiences and be able to connect with her work. The project is partially presented in narrative form and presented in a way that will familiarize the reader with not only the author's personal encounters, but also background and literature on identity conflict, what it is to be biracial, and interfaith. The writer is of a Japanese and Pakistani background, and of Muslim and Buddhist faith, with a highly Americanized influence. The author describes her identity conflict and confusion that she encountered, and also how her many backgrounds helped to shape the person she has become today. Social work was one of the many interests and passions that the author describes developing as a result of her upbringing and background.
