Ausführlich beschreibt er die Lebensräume dieser Tiere, ihre Brutfürsorge und Nester, ihre Nutznießer und Gegenspieler sowie die Abhängigkeiten zwischen Bienen und Blüten und skizziert die Gefährdung der Wildbienen und ihren Schutz. 565 Steckbriefe enthalten zudem alles Wissenswerte zu Verbreitung, Biologie, Flugzeit sämtlicher heimischer Arten.
