Vasi defines and analyzes three pathways through which the environmental movement has contributed to industry growth: it has influenced the adoption and implementation of renewable energy policies, created consumer demand for clean energy, and changed the institutional logics of the energy sector. Vasi uses quantitative analysis to present the big picture of global wind power development, and qualitative research to understand why certain countries are world leaders in wind energy while others are relatively underdeveloped. Through interviews with renewable energy professionals and campaigners, he shows that environmental groups and activists participated actively in energy policymaking, pressured various organizations to purchase wind power, and formed new companies that specialized in wind-farm development. He also demonstrates that environmentalists contributed to wind turbine manufacturing by becoming entrepreneurs, innovators, and advocates. --Book Jacket."@en ;
schema:exampleOfWork <http://worldcat.org/entity/work/id/836157813> ;
schema:genre "Electronic books"@en ;
schema:inLanguage "en" ;
schema:isSimilarTo <http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/609101316> ;
schema:name "Winds of change : the environmental movement and the global development of the wind energy industry"@en ;
schema:productID "729246299" ;
schema:publication <http://www.worldcat.org/title/-/oclc/729246299#PublicationEvent/oxford_new_york_oxford_university_press_2011> ;
schema:publisher <http://experiment.worldcat.org/entity/work/data/836157813#Agent/oxford_university_press> ; # Oxford University Press

schema:url <http://www.library.yorku.ca/e/resolver/id/1956087> ;
schema:url <http://public.ebookcentral.proquest.com/choice/publicfullrecord.aspx?p=3054172> ;
schema:url <https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=368861> ;
schema:url <https://doi.org/10.1093/acprof:oso/9780199746927.001.0001> ;
schema:url <http://site.ebrary.com/id/10472311> ;
schema:workExample <http://worldcat.org/isbn/9780199842582> ;
wdrs:describedby <http://www.worldcat.org/title/-/oclc/729246299> ;    .
