Notes: Commonly known as one of Repton's Redbooks.
Letter inscribed at Hare Street near Rompton by H. Repton to Col. Woodhouse of Witton in Norfolk, 1801 August 20.
Repton's business card mounted on p. [2] of fly-leaf, opposite first leaf of text.
This ms. has foxing and has been rebound with pH. neutral tissue to protect illustrations and is encased.
Water-color and ink sketch of Witton and cover of an 18th century ed. of The vicar of Wakefield, Sterne's Sentimental journey, etc. inserted following leaf [9]. Cover gives responsibility to "an eminent artist", [Repton?] for the plates contained in the volume from which it was taken.
Written on machine laid rag paper, watermarked: E-J 1796; inserted t.p. is printed on vertically laid wood pulp and rag paper.
Accompanied by 1 leaf of repair notes of 1978 restoration of the ms. by G. O'Connor of Oxford, Oxfordshire.
