Abstract:

Covers various surgical procedures, treatment of fractures, the manufacture of artificial limbs, etc. Also includes chapters on nerves, obstetrics, and structure of the eye. Includes the author's human anatomy, pathology, discussion of monsters, and a work on distillation.

Most of the first English translation of Paré's collected works was based on the first Latin edition of 1582, made from the second edition of the French Oeuvres (1579); however, the "Apologie and treatise," not having yet appeared in Latin, was translated directly from the French.--J. Norman, 2006.
